Show me the most depraved undocumented immigrant, who has committed the most heinous crime, causing harm to me directly. ICE should not shoot that person. EVER. The state should NEVER execute a person, period, and certainly not without due process, certainly not in the street. This is fundamental.

There is no such legal or other "absolute immunity" protection for police or other law enforcement. All can be held responsible for their actions if they acted above and beyond their authority. "Self defense" can be argued as a legal defense but it must be justified.

We can either have states that prosecute murders of their residents by federal agents, or we can have an unchecked federal goon army free to murder despite the law. We can have an opposition party that votes against arming and funding these goons, or we can have cowed opposition in name only.

As a kid growing up Catholic, I usually left church feeling defeated inadequacy- I had internalized the necessity of being a type of perfect I could not be.

As an adult who is UU, I most often leave church with a desire and way to become better, but a starting point that my flawed self is worthy.
