like this isn't a sadboi post at all, i'm really thankful. i've always been proud to be korean. hell, i got my black belt in taekwondo because i never cared about what stupidity people had to say. but, it is really nice to be celebrated for my lived experiences and culture.

they enjoy hearing about the food i love, the music i listen to, my trips to korea, and can even find humor in the stories i tell about my parents and my family, even if they can't directly relate.

thinking about those times just made me thankful to where we are as a society but also, to have a community and a group of friends who care about me.

i was the only korean kid in a small school before i moved to new york city. people used to make fun of the way my mom's cooking smelled, the way my mom couldn't really speak english well, and would ask if i was a seven-year old north korean spy.

it's a random memory but i woke up thinking about how when i was younger, being korean was not a cool thing to be, simply put.

okay, everyone who has ever played stardew valley, i apologize for speaking ill of you and your craft
