Polling holds too much sway over our democracy and governance. But the G&D by-election does show that Reform’s dominance is inflated by foreign/rightwing interests, irresponsible media support and Farage’s ego.
If progressives can win despite all that, then hatred really is overpriced. Hope can win.

If we were working to disentangle ourselves from the criminal USA, I’d be fine, but we really aren’t. Starmer is buying Palantir software, US weaponry, and digging us deeper in.

We must make politicians and journalists pay for their lies if we want to live in a democracy. Any statement that they could reasonably be expected to be know to be untrue should have serious consequences including significant prison time.

Except we need a test as to whether they *should* have known a statement wasn’t true. Too easy to claim to have been ‘mistaken’ otherwise.

Of course it’s not true. Surely everyone has worked out most ‘journalists’ are just patsies for the Trump lie machine?

More than that. A new offence of misleading the public is essential, with guilty politicians and journalists arrested, charged and imprisoned. Democracy cannot support all the disinformation they currently get away with.
