lol that's actually not hard to explain. i write like a possessed person when i'm scared, and the world rn seems intent on keeping me in a semi-perpetual state of panic. so, fics 🤷‍♀️

'the sudden POV change was a huge turn off' (fic is clearly tagged with POV Alt)
'author is sick in the head, there's never a need to r*pe anyone' (no comment)

I don't know what I'm doing. I just wrote a 4k dialogue scene that is just Hua Cheng trying to convince Xie Lian to date him. I don't know why it amuses me so. I think I need professional help but it's possibly too late.

I apologize for the word vomit, but I just wanted to say you're not alone with this, it's a thing that happens to most of us.

Now, I repeat: my worth as a writer (a person) does not equal my fic's popularity. It does not. Fandom/audience popularity is its own thing. I could never break the top ranks, and it's hard not to take it personally, but it is in fact not personal. I found that the hardest thing to get through my

keeping me afloat, so that had stung like anything. Even though I knew all the things above. The only way out I discovered back then was this: I'd rather have written a good fic that was unpopular than a really popular one that was utter crap. That was a bandaid for a high that didn't happen.
