12. Zelensky doesn’t even get the space to understand the questions. The translator tries to help, but there’s no real interest in his answers.

10. At 17:20 into the meeting, you can see Zelensky struggling to answer, visibly frustrated, shaking his head as Trump moves on to the next question.

9. Zelensky tries to steer it back to facts about the war. Every time he mentions Russia invading Ukraine, Trump responds with “there have been very big talks on both sides.”

8. Then, to interrupt this critical discussion, Trump picks a question about... which historical figure he compares himself to.

6. Trump brings up how little Europe has invested, complaining about Russian oil and gas. Zelensky barely gets a word in. But he corrects him, reminding him how much Europe has actually helped.

5. This traumatized leader speaks emotionally about 20,000 kidnapped children and shows photos of tortured soldiers and pastors. Trump nods… and talks about how much money he'll make from the raw earth in Ukraine.

4. Then the meeting with Zelensky. Wow. Hard to watch, knowing what’s happened since.

3. He says it’s about national security. And international security. How? “We are going to make you very rich.” Judging by the past 4 days, international security doesn’t seem like much of a priority. “We have a nice big ocean between us.”

2. Watching the speech from Denmark 🇩🇰 felt surreal. Hearing Trump talk about the Panama Canal and Greenland 🇬🇱 — “we will get it one way or another” — and then everyone laughs. (1:21 into the speech.)

Tonight I watched Trump’s full-length speech to Congress from last night. And after that, the full Oval Office meeting with Trump and Zelensky. I felt I needed to see it myself after reading all the media comments 🧵

This is truly sad and unbelievable. How can this happen. How can these decisions be supported.

As a true Dane, I figured the train would be perfect for transportation... Now here I am with my redundant podcast equipment — packed into 3 bags — and a 20-minute walk on each side of the train ride. I'm calling it CrossFit!
