A large maple spanworm moth is perched on top of my closed Seestar telescope. It is light brown and has squared-off edges to its wings and long white antennae.

Little pollinator friend helped me set up the telescope this evening so I could add to my stack of images on the Butterfly Nebula 🦋 🔭 🧪

This was a big project: the Cygnus Loop, with the Eastern Veil Nebula, Western Veil Nebula, and Pickering's Triangle + Fleming's Triangular Wisp. An ancient supernova remnant that covers ~3degrees on the sky.

I saw that some time ago! Honestly, I hate plotting in python, it’s so fiddly and every default setting is just wrong and requires a web search to figure out how to fix it… sometimes I just want a light curve or a spectrum
