Of the 21 babies who survived, 12 suffered infections, diseases or birth defects that doctors believe could have been prevented. 16 women had miscarriages and 4 survived ectopic pregnancies, which can be deadly without treatment. Some women can never have children again. 2 women died. These incidents continue to happen.
