Every Sunday, a group of volunteers come together to clean the Oslo Fjord of marine waste. Since they started in 2021, they have pulled out tonnes of trash — plastic, electric scooters, sunken boats, even solar panels. It’s devastating and inspiring in equal measure.

As a Norwegian, I’ve been hesitant to travel to Lofoten in peak summer (in fear of running into one too many tourist hikers in crocs). But, as it turns out, you can get these magical views almost entirely to yourself with a bit of planning!

In September 2025, I traveled to Castilla y León to document the aftermath of Spain’s wildfires. What I found was a fire triangle: depopulation, political inaction, and a firefighting system stretched to the breaking point.
