If you watch the video it is clear that they are deliberately and almost derangedly blindsiding Zelenskyy. Now we know who the audience was.

He reverted back to normal for sure but when Pete really first took off, he all of a sudden got much quieter, the tone shifted and there was a big difference there for awhile. It didn't last long after the election but it did happen.
