We seem to have collectively decided, gradually and mostly out of apathy, that presidents can launch flagrantly unconstitutional wars of choice without congressional approval and there just won’t be any consequences. Would be nice if this is where we start reversing the trend.

The imperial presidency was a mistake. It has led to destruction of clean air and water, mass death abroad, destruction of cancer research, and now illegal war.

We must re-empower Congress, the most democratic branch, and a strong civil service. We can. But that will require Supreme Court reform.

I feel so bad for the excellent career public servants at NSF. Every NSF officer I ever met was an accomplished PhD research scientist, many of them on leave from positions as professors because helping shape the future of U.S. and global science is such a privilege. What’s happening is a shonda. 😡

they hate DEI because qualified people—including but not exclusively from underrepresented groups—“took away” jobs from guys whose qualifications are 1) cronyism, 2) lack of scruples, and 3) narrow, short-term transactional view of science and engineering. 1/2

It's going to be genuinely difficult to figure out how much money he and his family literally just took from US taxpayers. Don't even mean the crypto scam profiteering shit, like actual treasury money that by one mechanism or another he turned into his own money.
