Cheeky shout-out, but if anyone has any thoughts about the YP CEC elections, the by-election in Gorton and Denton or any other socialist-adjacent topics, please feel free to submit any letters (up to 500 words) to @prometheusmagazine.bsky.social and I'll have a look!

A quick post to let everyone know that I'm doing good, keeping myself busy with things here and there as I start my viva preparation.

I'm mainly on Instagram atm and not much else in terms of social media. If people want to catch me on there, just reply to this and I can DM you my account.

I got this over the weekend with a gift voucher.

I've only flipped through it atm, but I'm glad to have a physical copy of Xanthra Phillippa's TS Butch poem at the very least.

Also fascinating getting to see trans politics develop in the 90s through zine culture.

Buckle up cos we're in for a truly epic round of equivocation, prevarication & nuancing the fuck out of this illegal action from Britain's pundits

I hope that everyone has had a happy New Year.

In the meantime, I might be launching a blog soon for more long form thoughts, introspection and analysis. So keep your eyes out for that.

Looks like Levy may be dropping at 2pm.

1) Dont panic
2) Itll take some careful analysis so beware people jumping the gun
3) put your own mental health first.

If youre posting stuff, be responsible and mind other mental health. Use warnings etc as appropriate.

Looks like a busy weekend for me.

Mini thread on the ET decision in Peggie

Top line: It says exactly what we have been saying for months. The decision of the Supreme Court was not to turn the Equality Act 2010 into a nationwide bathroom ban - regardless of how anti-trans organisations have sought to misrepresent the law.

Summarising 80k words into a 300 word abstract is surprisingly difficult.

(yes I am nearly there everyone!)

If I set up a blog/website that comprises of my own thoughts, first drafts and a random assortment of ideas, would people read it?

I think having a space to write down long-form thoughts would be nice, but I do not want to use Substack (maybe Bear Blog, Zonelets or just learn some HTML)

I'm conflicted because when I go to some of these spaces, I'm seeking them out because they reflect my own values.

There needs to be spaces like that, but also that's a different thing than needing these spaces to access vital services.

03.12.2025 12:30 β€” πŸ‘ 5    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

However, I think it's finding a balance. Left-wing physical spaces are important and are crucial in establishing inclusive, radical cultures of solidarity.

But many of these are set up out of necessity, because the state is not interested in providing these services in the first place.

03.12.2025 12:23 β€” πŸ‘ 8    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

It kind of links to my own research. When these spaces are gone, NGOs and the charity sector come in to fill the void.

As helpful as these spaces are for so many people, it's not the same thing. Certain things get prioritised, others don't. People's intent to work there is different too.

03.12.2025 12:15 β€” πŸ‘ 5    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I really enjoyed reading this.

The loss of left-wing physical spaces is certainly felt. I was speaking to someone at Sheffield Transformed, who mentioned that the area once had two other radical spaces, 'all gone now.'

It's also about what these spaces mean in building inclusive, radical cultures.

If anyone is at the Your Party conference and is familiar with Erin, the trans woman from Glasgow who tried to speak, please show her some support, let her know she is not alone

I can't sit idly by while a fellow trans Scot is silenced by a Westminster branch. I need to know if she is doing ok

Tuesday my union offered to call off 2 weeks of strikes, in return for postponing the redudnacy of, maybe, 5 people for three months. Yesterday the uni wrote to all staff saying "not interested", unless we completely caved. Today we toured picket lines across campus:

A lone Golden Plover stands alert on a low, mist-covered mound, silhouetted against a pale grey sky. Its speckled plumage blends with the muted landscape, giving a sense of vulnerability and quiet resilience: a single bird holding its ground as its world shifts around it.

Last night the Government steamrollered its Planning Bill through, slamming the door on vital protections for nature.

They said it would be a β€˜win-win’ for the economy and nature.

But in reality, they’ve pushed nature into last place.
