If you haven't ever had to apply for IRB approval to conduct human subject research I don't think you can appreciate how profound of a violation of ethical research practices this is. This is information collected from a vulnerable community in a medical context disclosed without consent.

Honestly a bit of a wake up call in that I'm not as used to mass movement parties and spaces. Definitely had some moments today where I'm like 'oh, I get how people become cynical now.'

I think what I need is like a calendar of local, radical events to help out with this stuff.

Me, yesterday: 'I'll join the local Your Party chats to see if there's any interesting events on, maybe see what the LGBT+ caucus are doing.'

When we survive this, it's ensuring that we don't just simply ask for these measures to be gone. Demand more, don't make it about 'reduced waiting lists' again. I'm thinking of when @fullnommunism.bsky.social said Trans Femme Futures was a requiem for trans liberalism, the moment feels like that.

Sometimes I worry that I come across as that 'brave face,' when things are so shit. But it's just hard to imagine falling into something worse like defeatism or an all-consuming grief.

I have to find my moments to keep going. It's also holding onto politics beyond this.

I think cis allies do need to understand the dangers of the EHRC guidance, rising fascism and threats to healthcare and legal recognition (which I agree was not something to focus heavily on, even the 2015 hearings acknowledged that)

But trans people need to re-strategise, not give up so to speak.

On the one hand, it's weirdly affirming that Shon touched on the LGBT+ charity sector and trans women's positions in it (something my research explores)

But it's not so much that it's 'over' but that the moment has changed, there has been such a rapid shift and it's about how to organise against it

The leading, indispensable accomplice to this world historic evil will tomorrow be given all the honours of a state visit to the UK by one of the other key accomplices.

I know that reads as somewhat polemical but it really is just a bald statement of fact.

The podcast said Sultana's response should have been more 'these positions from leading figures should not be tolerated,' instead of from members.

That got me a bit, but it's also acknowledging that you will encounter people with reactionary, chauvinistic positions. It's how you deal with it.
