Senior White House officials intervened to scrap the OMB effort to halt funding to the NIH, reports @nidhisubs.bsky.social, who broke the story for the WSJ

30.07.2025 03:07 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I can confirm the news. Leadership received an email today saying
"NIH has received the full-year apportionment from OMB, but it contains a footnote that limits our obligations. At the moment, ASFR has interpreted this footnote to permit NIH obligations only for salaries, administrative expenses...
The NIH canβt award ANY grants to outside researchers under new WH restriction, reports @wsj.com.
The pause came in the form of a footnote from OMB Director Vought, in a document that doles out federal funds to the NIH.
