β€œIt's amazing how pollution has dropped in #Paris in 15 years. @annehidalgo.bsky.social has filled the city with bike-lanes & not only has she reduced pollution by 40% but she’s also been re-elected.”

Trading car space for green space, bike space, kid space…trading pollution for people. Good trade.

A key piece of anti-nuclear protest art now sadly graffited over and a shadow of its former self. It once read:
"18 TRUCKS WITH 200 COPS
PASSED THIS WAY AT 12.00 MIDNIGHT 1.2.77
TAKING, SNEAKING, URANIUM
TO WHITE BAY
WHAT MORE CAN I SAY?"

Anthropocene Desire Lines A Coal Story

Check out this visual essay by Lindsay Bremner and John Cook. It does very cool things bringing together deep time & political time.

And for word-focused academics, it inspires other ways of thinking and presenting research and analysis.

Two years ago I was in Sao Paulo and visited the aquariun. There were two polar bears there, a gift from Russia before the Sochi Olympics. The were mangey, huddling under two ice machines suspended from the ceiling. There was almost no daylight and it was about 30 deg C outside. It was horrific.
