I hope more people ask why the Mayor of the City of Vancouver is sharing white nationalist media in the first place. Do Amy Hamm, Jim McMurty & all the weirdos harassing 2SLGBTQ+ kids at Pride events in the name of far-right "journalism" represent the City of Vancouver?

Orr listed municipalities that supported the UBCM resolution in support of Palestinians. When I heard "North Van," I felt proud to live where leaders are willing to take a stand against genocide.

How many more have to die before it's okay to say "stop killing people?"

Honest question. If you put rule of law above all, how do you square the International Court of Justice's call to act on violations against people (mostly civilians) in Palestine with slander meant to demonize folks calling for states to uphold international obligations?

If you ever wondered why the ostrich farm has such a weird prominence, this is why. Farming conspiracies, climate change denialism & the far right massively collided in 2022 & continue to ripple through BC. Wildfire, drought, flood, water licensing & cull conspiracies are all part of this ecosystem.

Lindsay Shepherd wrote a truly bonkers "documentary" called Starvation Policy (directed by Keean Bexte, ofc) which argues the government is ruining farms to starve white people (only white people). It features a robust selection of white nationalism & climate change denial.

QAnon joined the group, which speaks volumes to the veracity of the claims going through the farm's supporters.

This isn't some spontaneous concern for stamping-out policies. It's another expression of right-wing extremism throwing conspiracies at a wall to see what sticks.

While influencers & wannabes party it up, they tell their online audience to take a stand, to talk themselves into action (including violence). Influencers sell desperation & it's an easy transaction for a far-right audience that already believes itself to be a political victim.

These kinds of events are a way to generate content. That's it. Influencers can reliably livestream all day & talk to people who already agree w/ their politics so there's no risk of encountering real opposition. Then the influencer can say that everyone agrees with them.
