I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

The Dangerous Incoherence of Trumpβs War With Iran
The president doesnβt have a clear goal in Iran but thinks he can end the war before that becomes a problem. But the problem is: He canβt.
"In Iran, the destruction and general illegality is the point: This administration wants to drop a shitload of bombs, to kill a foreign leader, to destabilize a foreign nation, if not an entire region simply because it canβand because no one can stop them." newrepublic.com/article/2071...

The president didn't bother to make the case for war in a marathon State of the Union address and then he fucked off to his sweaty gilded country club so he could literally phone in an unconstitutional war.
Every single Democrat needs to be screaming about this at full volume.

A New Report Reveals the Real Reason Democrats Lost in 2024
It wasnβt because Biden voters shifted to Trumpβbut because so many of them stayed home. Hereβs how Democrats can motivate them once more.
Reupping the good piece that @monicapotts.bsky.social wrote in the @newrepublic.com summarizing @waytowinus.bsky.social's 2024 autopsy report. Ds shouldn't triangulate -- they need to be authentic and show voters they will fight for them against corrupt elites and a broken system 2/

EEOC Issues Federal Sector Appellate Decision Recognizing the Ability of Federal Agencies to Designate Intimate Spaces in Federal Workplaces by Sex
WASHINGTON β The U.S.
The EEOC just reversed its own position, which it held for over a decade, that Title VII not only protects trans workers from discrimination but specifically that banning a trans worker from using a bathroom aligned with their gender identity is against the law www.eeoc.gov/newsroom/eeo...

The Washington Post's description of the bodycam video of his arrest last year, and the translation of Mr. Shah Alam's comments, is gutting. Remember, he was entirely blind in one eye and could only see three feet in the other, and he spoke virtually no English.
He spent a year in jail for this.

imo the threat posed by CBS News and CNN getting absorbed by pro-regime billionaires isn't that they're going to produce right-wing slop that convinces people to be right-wing, it's the dismantling of newsrooms capable of doing investigative reporting on the administration. Fewer eyes on the street.

The Constitution clearly gives Congress the power to spend taxpayer funds, and no law allows the president to halt if he feels some US states arenβt being βgood stewardsβ of the money.
In case thereβs any confusion on this, the Impoundment Control Act forbids it.
