I think I asked this before but over on the 'old place', has anyone got recommendations for works on the following: Australian military culture?
Overarching Australian military history?
Australia and the Great War?
An Australian officer of the Indian Army referring to his first few months in India as βbonzaβ might be my favourite archival find ever!

Unfortunately, I never had the pleasure of meeting Gordon Corrigan but his work led the way for many of us who followed.
Sepoys in the Trenches is a book I have read time and again and which I frequently consult.
My thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
Cover of book with text in yellow reading: The Firearm Revolution: From Renaissance Italy to the European Empires, overlaid on an image of an angel in seventeenth-century dress with wings and a long gun.
Hello Bluesky! My new book, THE FIREARM REVOLUTION, is out on 14 April. Itβs about how a new technology changed society, and how hard it was to control. Hereβs a little thread of whatβs inside:

Iβll be joining the Wiltshire Branch of The WFA on Sunday 1st March to talk about the Indian Army, the manpower issues it faced during the First World War and how these problems were overcome.
Do come along if you are in the area!

Delighted to get my hands on Volume 1 of London Pride!
I am excited to delve into the chapters and learn more about the London Territorials.
Of course I am also excited for Volume 2 later this year to see my own contribution in print!

London Pride Vol 1 has now has been printed! It examines the vital yet often overlooked contributions of Londonβs Territorial Force from 1908-21, exploring its unique structure, socio-economic composition, military operations during the GW and enduring legacy. Order: tinyurl.com/33d9zwj7

Well I never, a 500 page book on the Indian Army features 0 entries in the bibliography for Kaushik Roy. I wasn't sure that was possible!

Right, Normandy in May with the fam. Aiming to spend at least 1 full day history dadding, maybe the whole family, maybe just me and 6yo history fan, Teddy. If one was to look to do and see as much 1944 as possible, where should one be going?
(Teddy likes planes and tanks).
1/5 It was entirely predictable that The Telegraph would jump on @DavidOlusogaβs Empire series to fight its right wing culture war for control of our public history. Letβs see what theyβve done:
