I think I asked this before but over on the 'old place', has anyone got recommendations for works on the following: Australian military culture?
Overarching Australian military history?
Australia and the Great War?

An Australian officer of the Indian Army referring to his first few months in India as β€˜bonza’ might be my favourite archival find ever!

Unfortunately, I never had the pleasure of meeting Gordon Corrigan but his work led the way for many of us who followed.
Sepoys in the Trenches is a book I have read time and again and which I frequently consult.
My thoughts are with his family at this sad time.

Hello Bluesky! My new book, THE FIREARM REVOLUTION, is out on 14 April. It’s about how a new technology changed society, and how hard it was to control. Here’s a little thread of what’s inside:

Delighted to get my hands on Volume 1 of London Pride!
I am excited to delve into the chapters and learn more about the London Territorials.
Of course I am also excited for Volume 2 later this year to see my own contribution in print!

Well I never, a 500 page book on the Indian Army features 0 entries in the bibliography for Kaushik Roy. I wasn't sure that was possible!

We're at a Eurocamp near Houlgate, so Arromanches and then work back towards our base would probably work pretty well. Thank you.

We're at Eurocamp in Houlgate so Merville could be on the way, way back or a quick trip for another day, it looks great though, will definitely check it out.

Right, Normandy in May with the fam. Aiming to spend at least 1 full day history dadding, maybe the whole family, maybe just me and 6yo history fan, Teddy. If one was to look to do and see as much 1944 as possible, where should one be going?
(Teddy likes planes and tanks).

1/5 It was entirely predictable that The Telegraph would jump on @DavidOlusoga’s Empire series to fight its right wing culture war for control of our public history. Let’s see what they’ve done:
