Known as the Correspondents' Corridor, this office space loaned to media outlets by the Secretary of Defense stands as a tribute to the importance the Department has long placed on informing the public about the U.S. military and all it does to project peace through strength. It also honors the many correspondents who put their lives on the line, and in many cases died, while covering our finest in battle. In order to broaden access to the limited space of the Correspondents' Corridor to outlets that have not previously enjoyed the privilege and journalistic value of working from physical office space in the Pentagon, beginning February 14, 2025, the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs will implement a new Annual Media Rotation Program for those dedicated media spaces. Each year, one outlet from each press medium - print, online, television and radio - that has enjoyed working from a physical office in the Pentagon will rotate out of the building to allow a new outlet from the same medium that has not had the unique opportunity to report as a resident member of the Pentagon Press Corps. This year, the following news outlets will begin their rotation by vacating their physical office space effective Friday, February 14, 2025: Print - The New York Times TV - NBC News Radio - National Public Radio Online News - POLITICO In their place, the following outlets from each medium will be invited to move into the Correspondents' Corridor workspaces formerly occupied by the above four outlets. Some of those counties were also flagged by ICE for not providing notifications when an undocumented immigrant will be released. There’s no law requiring that, either. [That makes a person go... Hmm... you don't have a problem not letting the public know when a violent sex offender is released.]

ICE has identified more than a dozen Minnesota counties as being uncooperative because they don’t have “adequate hold time” for agents to assume custody of immigrants.

More than 70 percent of detainees in the Midwest last year had criminal convictions, according to ICE statistics. [Note this does not speak to Immigration mishandlings.]

Three MN counties (Freeborn, Kandiyohi and Sherburne)have fed contracts to hold detainees flagged by ICE. The agency says they...target immigrants who are public safety threats and may be deportable.

In MN, local law enforcement agencies do not have the authority to arrest people for being in the country illegally. However, when people are booked into a jail and fingerprinted, that data goes to the FBI — which (ICE) can access to check against their database...they can issue a detainer request.

On Jan. 21, a day after Inauguration, Trump’s acting deputy attorney general issued a memo warning officials that they could be charged for harboring people who are in the country illegally if they fail to comply with “immigration-related commands.”

Why some Minnesota law enforcement agencies will not follow Trump’s mass deportation plan Besides laws which prevent local police from enforcing immigration law, some officials say they don’t have the resources to take on additional tasks.

Both Minneapolis and St. Paul have separation ordinances, which prevent city employees — including police officers — from asking people about their legal status. — unless a crime involves smuggling or human trafficking.
