Not at first. A 50 year mortgage does little to make home buying affordable if rates are where they at and prices. There are more creative ways to make this a better process that doesn't screw consumers. No one wants a 50 year mortgage.

Generally speaking, banks do not like to hold a portfolio of foreclosed homes. That could lead to another crisis that tanks the home prices. However that could just start another cycle of house flippers/ investors buying up these houses to renovate and sell at inflated prices.
