And wouldn't it be nice if spell-check would stop flagging bits and pieces of proper nouns that we all use consistently? It's clearly not comfortable with some out-of-context Welsh.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

A bit of a departure from my recent conference topics - which were connected with the (nearing completion) dissertation - but it should be fun!

Thank you! I'm still ironing out the details, but I'd be happy to share more later! (Aside from Nonnos, this is very new material to me). It's developing from a thought I had while working on my Lesbiantiquity contribution a while back.

Looking forward to dipping my toes into some Late Antique / Early Christian material at #CAAS2025 this fall. I’ll be giving a paper on Aura as a model of “bad” virginity in Nonnos’ Dionysiaca. Really grateful to have these smaller conferences for trying out ideas.

If an application field asks you to “state briefly X (expertise, future plans, etc.)” in an essay format, but does not include a word or character count, what would your reasonable expectations about length be?

To be honest, if the ebook or pdf that I’m reading doesn’t have footnotes, I’m highly unlikely to read the notes at all…
