It's one of these films that was referenced so much in the 90s, at least in my humanities grad school milieu, that I think my brain concluded I had seen it at some point. I love the watch parties for introducing me to stuff like this that I've overlooked without realizing it.

The story makes me wonder about the wisdom of taking 4-year-olds on hikes in mountain lion terrain--or any little creature (dogs) that can separate from the adult humans. On the other hand the article stresses how incredibly rare such attacks are.
