We called the State hotline. First thing you hear is an automated message: "Do not rely on the U.S. government for assisted departure or evacuation."

The messaging has changed - “we are trying to help” — but honestly I don’t know how much I would trust that. I remember how useful the embassies were to Americans and those with pathways in the Afghan withdrawal and these people are both demons and incompetent.

I was one of the ones angry at Trump’s hasty withdrawal announcement and Biden’s hasty withdrawal (Afghanistan, which I had a front row seat to). This is… horrendous. This is so inept. This is abdication of all competence.

Americans would’ve supported anyone who consistently made this type of response & we wouldn’t be here if they had.

He's retiring and so can finally say what he thinks. Frankly this is the response that all of Congress should have to all of the BS that's going on right now.
