Re: The inevitable push-back about these kinds of tips: keep in mind, it's literally my job to know, catch, and correct this stuff. You do whatever you want, but if your script is gonna end up in a mainstream book, chances are good it's gonna be changed to mainstream standards.

Comics writers, if you END a balloon with a ellipsis, and the idea continues into a 2nd balloon, it's standard practice amongst almost all mainstream publishers to BEGIN the 2nd balloon with an ellipsis. Same goes for double dashes. (I end up correcting a million of these.)

CUTE LITTLE BUDDY FRIEND. This is a jumping spider, and all you can see is its eyes and bunched up limbs as it is tucked behind the branch of a tree, hiding as if to say, "You cannot see me, I am too clever." Its eyes are black and shiny, but somehow adorable, perhaps because of the impression of dewy eyelashes. It's a cute spider. FORBIDDEN GUMMY WORM. Okay, not a gummy worm, but this caterpillar looks kind of like a gummy worm? The caterpillar is bright red with a mottled, almost tortoiseshell head. The caterpillar is bent at the fore and is on a leaf drooping forward. Its body is covered in cresting peaks of tiny bristles. It is, I believe, the caterpillar of a luna moth. From my experience of drawing sound effects by hand, I realised that you can easily make font-based sound effects more exciting as well—by exercising intentionality and control.

Salute to whatever scribe did this manuscript, because they clearly were willing to go all in on observing some very very good bugs (and also non-Hemiptera crawly buddies)
