What is the easiest way to setup and tinker with a self-hosted PDS for ATproto?

I believe in the same values you are finding in AT as I am finding those in Nostr (technical, not cultural). But I have to admit, I still need to try out to selfhost several components for AT like a PDS.

Have you tried to run your own relay with Nostr? And apply your own policies? You dont need any token/crypto/sat for that. It makes me sad to read that Nostr is mostly about financial incentives. I believe it’s not.

You can build any feed you would like, or build presets of feeds which can be used by others. I don’t see why this should not be possible with Nostr.

So why is the Bluesky proxy now showing the media here? Is this a bug? The source is v.nostr.build/XQtqj1pvrwQv... and can be requested by anyone. Is Bluesky only embedding media hosted on their infra?

I know, I love contradictions and how paradigm shifts work.

Wishfull thinking. I believe most of the Bluesky people won’t stay for the decentralisation.

What matters eventually is that people stay for the people. Without a middleman.

Same goal as Nostr, but there is the proof you don’t need a single entity with a platform (which is a big single point of failure). Even ActivityPub is doing this better than Bluesky.
