No, public health isn’t dead, but it’s on life support.

And that’s all part of the plan. Cut staffing and budgets to cause agency functions to fail and people to be directly affected, delegitimizing agencies, increasing calls for privatization and monetization of essential govt functions. Republicans only want to serve corporate masters.

Another motive to piling on federal agencies is to delegitimize them in order to privatize and monetize the essential government services they provide. Setting conditions (through budget and staffing cuts) will cause these systems to fail, increasing the call for privatization and corp profit.

As Texas officials point to the National Weather Service failing to predict the amount of rain that caused this tragedy, it’s fair to wonder if the cuts made to the dept that many warned about played a role here.

“Celebrating” nothing. I served 26 years on AD plus 4 as a Midshipman in support & defense of the Constitution, only to have it crumpled up & spat upon by a puppet POTUS & his acolytes who are neither Christians, nor patriots. We are abandoning science for sorcery & lies, like everything else.

Oh ffs. It’s the obligation of government agencies, populated by experts, to protect the public from threats posed by malignant and ignorant actors. I’ve searched for health info on the internet a lot, just to see the 🐂 💩 out there. Doing one’s own research, ignoring experts, is deadly.
