The Wonder of the Cross – Day 12 – Majesty & Mystery (Awesome God) We don’t deserve this love but we are loved anyway.  The least we can do is respond with words of praise and aim to live lives of service.

The Wonder of the Cross – Day 11 – Precious I love these moments, these Trysting Places, with Our Beloved.  With Vicky (and Whitney – see below) I must learn to go there not only when I am in a good place but also when all I want to do…

a close up of a person 's face with blue eyes and the words `` my precious '' written on it . Alt: a close up of a person 's face with blue eyes and the words `` my precious '' written on it .

Constantly remind colleagues (and myself) that the Rest Day is supposed to be about re-creation and not recovery.
Also that is needed as much, if not more, by clergy families as well.

Vocation is a wonderful glorious golden gift but we should not be hagridden by it and let it become my ‘precious’….

So presumably this Daily Mail campaign against "foreign-born" voters will quickly be applied to their foreign-born star columnist, Boris Johnson, and their own France-based for tax purposes non-dom owner?

An upcoming talk by @davidtollerton.bsky.social on why there aren't more covid memorials. He makes many excellent points in this article. We would add that it takes will and consistent effort - someone has to do the work. ❤️

Three prayer cards with the words shalom, salaam, peace on them next to a votive candle

we recall the words of our Lord Jesus Christ: Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God (Matt 5:9)
Today, that calling feels heavier than ever before

The Most Reverend Hosam E. Naoum
Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem
The Fifteenth Bishop of the Episcopal/ Anglican Diocese of Jerusalem
28 February 2026

Dear Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ.
As you are all now painfully aware, in the carly hours of this morning, February 28th a coordinated and massive military assault was launched by the United States and Israel against numerous cities and installations within Iran. This operation, described by the leaders of the two nations as a "pre-emptive" attack, has brought fire and destruction to the heart of Tehran, Isfahan, and beyond, striking at the very centers of governance and civilian life. Moreover, just prior to these events, Israel had also "pre-emptively" attacked various targets in southern Lebanon, where the number of casualties has yet to be determined.

Tragically, the cycle of violence has expanded with terrifying speed. In the hours following, Iran launched a widespread reprisal, with missiles and drones targeting Israel and U.S. military assets across the Gulf-striking installations in Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Kurdistan-Irag, Jordan, and Qatar. Sirens also blared across the Holy Land, warning of incoming missiles from Iran. Suddenly, our people from the Mediterranean to the Persian Gulf find themselves once again huddled in shelters, fearing for their lives as the shadow of a total regional war looms over us.
These developments strike at the very soul of our Province of Jerusalem & the Middle East. Every single nation now engaged in this combat, and those bearing the brunt of the retaliatory strikes, resides within our ecclesiastical boundaries. Our brothers and sisters in the Diocese of Iran are currently enduring the terror of acrial bombardment; our members in the Diocese of Cyprus & the Gulf are witnessing the arrival of war at their doorsteps; and our faithful in the Diocese of Jerusalem-extending across Israel, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria-face an unprecedented threa…

I know we are no longer in Christmastide, but...

".. and man, at war with man, hears not
the love-song which they bring:
O hush the noise, ye men of strife,
and hear the angels sing."

Longing and praying for a world where people lift each other up, rather than seeking to divide and destroy.

When Bishop Gene Robinson came to our festival he made a lasting impression on Dave, from our OUT team. “Hearing how the first openly gay bishop kept his cool and his faith in the midst of the storm of criticism and hostility from some parts of the church was eye-opening" #LGBTHistoryMonth

If you find yourself doing fancy exegetical footwork to claim that God does not want you to love the stranger and treat them fairly, then I’m afraid you are far from the Kingdom of God.

Had fun when I was, as the parish priest, asked to ‘swear in’ an attorney so that she could be a Commissioner of Oaths.
Much hilarity ensued when she gave me a long formal document from Morag Ellis, The Dean of Arches who is not only a friend but also a member of my Quiz Team at General Synod 😃
