Let us turn to our Father.Β Β Then, though our questions may not be answered... we shall surely hear in the depths of our hearts good and comfortable words.

Guys, I have found the ultimate expression of Anglican spirituality. Stations at Stations, on a steam-hauled service, led by a former bishop of Sodor and Man.

... joy of joys we discover, along with Vicky, that sometimes what we thought was broken was beautiful all along.Β Β And this has been so since our beloved breathed the Breath of Life into us.

βFriends, a spiritual life does not demand that we pretend the world is any better than it is; only that we do not miss how the world is often much better than we feel.β

We don't go out alone into any endeavour.Β
When I first started visiting Holy Island I was very urgent about meeting tides and being βefficientβ.
Now I refuse to drive.
Train to Berwick,
Bus to Beal,
Walk to the Causeway.
If the tide is up I have to wait.
Waiting and listening is why I go to the Island in the first place.
Win-Win π

07.03.2026 09:57 β π 26 π 5 π¬ 0 π 0A Saint Dies Beside the Nidd By Jay Hulme - from 'The Vanishing Song' Prostrate before God a final time I reach out my arms to the earth. This stone blooms with the millennia, this soil burrows with chitinous song; life bursts from the death of another β each earthly thing I've loved is fossil-rich, renewed, re-created, recycled, returned. Soon, I cannot consider the miracle, only this moment, so wholly my own. The breeze in the trees reminds me of the song of my motherβs womb; though Iβll only realise that later β after Iβve gone.
"Prostrate before God a final time
I reach out my arms to the earth.
This stone blooms with the millennia,
this soil burrows with chitinous song;
life bursts from the death of another β
each earthly thing I've loved is fossil-rich,
renewed, re-created, recycled, returned."

This was so special. The beautiful Bury Psalter was written circa 1400 in the Abbey of St Edmund and is one of only two books from the pre-Reformation Abbey to remain in Bury St Edmunds. Since 1704, it has been owned by the local grammar school who have now gifted it to @stedscath.bsky.social

Yes! The extraordinary daily-ness of love, in ordinary daily things.
To quote the great Ursula le Guin:
"Love doesn't just sit there, like a stone, it has to be made, like bread; remade all the time, made new."
