π Today, BetaKit turns 10 π
On February 26, 2016, BetaKit spun out on our own and officially became BetaKit Incorporated. That was the moment we became like so many of the companies we cover: a Canadian startup π§΅
Talking about the Fediverse often feels like it merits a "stop trying to make fetch happen" response.
But at a recent conference in MontrΓ©al, advocates said figuring out how to build a decentralized web people will actually use is a must.

Employee-owned companies are more economically productive AND pay staff more. Yet Canada is set to let the tax incentives for creating this type of business ownership expire at the end of this year. Why?

I tricked ChatGPT and Google, and made them tell other users Iβm a competitive hot-dog-eating world champion
People are using this trick on a massive scale to make AI tell you lies. Iβll explain how I did it
Facebook plans to put facial recognition in its glasses and they think weβre too stupid to fight back.

I'd love to know β which other media were they following?
Radio-Canada apologizes after it aired a photo circulated by anti-trans hate groups online, falsely claiming it was a photo of the Tumbler Ridge shooter. Damaging and irresponsible, and this apology raises more questions about journalistic process imho.

According to multiple NYT sources, it wasnβt even military personnel at Fort Bliss that fired an anti-drone laser at alleged cartel drones. It was CBP who used the weapon on loan from DoD against a childβs party balloon they mistook for a drone. The Pentagon gave CBP an anti-aircraft weapon.

The post was removed within minutes. I have also been proactively reaching out to accounts sharing the same unverified image to encourage its removal so others do not repeat the mistake. Speed is never an excuse for inaccuracy, and I will exercise greater caution moving forward. Sincere apologies for contributing to any confusion."
And here's The Pleb acknowledging he posted photos all over the Internet accusing a completely random innocent person of being a school shooter:
