Can we also acknowledge that he's a casino marketer? This guy already isn't a good example of caring and speaking for the community.

Special shoutout to Figure 2, an incredible piece of art that I want on my wall (and suspect could even make an excellent tattoo if executed well?)

I mean it would be good practice for when we spin up Venus. But also do you know how hard it would be to build the shell as a perfect sphere without using the moons surface as a reference; we might end up making a dodecahedron or something instead, and that simply won't do

14.09.2025 21:26 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Ok so we build a reinforced shell around the moon to prevent it from breaking apart while we spin it ( ignoring the fact that you'd only have 1G at one latitude, and I different acceleration at different latitudes)

Given that eastern, northern, and southern civilization are already a thing; I vote that we name the replacement for western civilization as "orthogonal" civilization

Once upon a time I wanted a twister movie (featuring bill Paxton and Helen hunt) that took place on Mars with the dust tornados and global dust storms. We've been lacking decent disaster movies in recent years

'pip install jwst' is such a wild thing to me, the fact you can just install jwst like its no hassle or big deal reminds me of the XKCD comic 'import antigravity' (which actually works by the way) xkcd.com/353/

I know its anecdotal but Debian stuffz and gaming might actually pan out, its worth a try ๐Ÿ™ƒ

01.09.2025 08:30 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Ive been rocking almost entirely debian based systems for a few years now with steam gaming and haven't had any issues, and even more luckily, its been able to run a beta game that doesn't support Linux or laptops but my debian sid install runs it just fine (i might be just lucky in this case tho)

01.09.2025 08:28 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Yeah kubuntu or pretty much anything debian based is ok for a beginner these days (I've tested this on technically challenged friends and younger siblings) KDE might have too many options and overwhelm a beginner, so if thats the case go gnome. But either will honestly work
