Shocked to say I dug this. Went in with low expectations (I don't know anything about Tron and am in the usually repelled by Leto camp) but was pleasantly surprised!

(Also, I've always been a little confused that Inherent Vice wasn't more warmly received - damn cool movie!)

That's great to hear! Only one IMAX 1.5 hours away from me and it's a science centre so it doesn't get big movies until way after release (joys of small town Canadian life). With luck I'll see it there though for my second viewing!

Can't wait to see this one again! How's it hold up? Round 1 was that rare, completely overwhelming watch for me where I was able to get completely lost in the experience. Just drifted somewhere between the cast doing great work and that transportive score and loved it

Well, IMAX is definitely an incredible way to see Apollo 13 for the first time!

Robert Redford was an exceptionally magnetic presence that could anchor any film. Among a mountain of monumental work it's nearly impossible to choose a favourite. His towering performance in All is Lost that includes only a singular spoken word is truly an astonishing achievement among many greats.

Awesome! Definitely the correct order to watch those two I would say! Liked Roses, LOVED Caught Stealing! Stoked to see where you land on them

Loved Honey Don't! Was a little at war with myself over it being messy for a couple hours after the credits rolled but landed on that being a feature not a bug since all the best shaggy dog detective movies are. Seeing Qualley channel Philip Marlowe is immeasurably cool and pretty much peak cinema

Julius-Amรฉdรฉe Laou's The Old Sorceress and the Valet. A film that feels like a painful secret and in some ways plays like an unsentimental, raw antithesis to Leo McCarey's 1937 masterpiece Make Way for Tomorrow. Captivating, insightful stuff. Currently streaming on Criterion Channel.

Had the exact same thing happen! I blurt laughed at P.L.O.T. Device so loud I think I jump scared the people behind me and barely stopped from
then until the end! My showing had a great audience that were all into it too. Can't oversell how cool that is with a movie like this!

(For what it's worth, I loved the movie)

Perfectly expressed! I also think that after Frank Miller and Alan Moore reshaped comics as by default dark and edgy something was lost. Nothing against their approach, but I feel like Gunn reappropriates the all too often ignored era of lost light, fun comics that weren't afraid to be silly here

Can't think of a better way to celebrate turning 45 than playing fetch with Nellie the kitten (who can really get some air playing with her stick), getting a Super Scope for the SNES from my wife and taking in a movie!

Loved it so much! Totally on board with this take too. Past Lives feels like it only has one mood, an ache that it does well. Materialists is electric, fully alive and knows people are made up of more than just longing.
