LAST WEEK TO REGISTER
Online β€’ Tuesdays, 6:30-9:30pm ET β€’ February 11-March 25
The Conversation: Eras with Omotara James
In this seven-week, generative online workshop we'll respond to the curated
art and literature of a decade by writing ekphrastic poetry. We'll learn the
delicate balance of recording personal narrative while interrogating the
cultural conversation of the eras spanning the 1960s to the 2000s.
Online β€’ Thursdays, 6:30-9:30pm ET β€’ February 13-March 13
Writing the Backdrop with Rama Ramana
What does a single blade of grass signify in the open expanse of a suburban
lawn? How does that shift when viewed against the rugged sweep of
mountains or in the deep boroughs of a city? In this five-week, generative
online workshop we'll look at poems, prose texts and short videos that
illuminate landscape, environment and background and use these to consider
the possibilities of world-building inside a poem.
Online β€’ Wednesdays, 6:30-9:30pm ET β€’ February 12-March 12
Black Fire: Finding Our Duende with Matthew Gellman
In this five-week, generative online workshop, we'll explore the roots of the
concept of duende, using Lorcas "Play and Theory of the Duende
" as our
foundational text. We will write poems that release the wild, dark, animalistic
energy of the duende that lives inside us.
In Person β€’ Thursdays, 6:30-9:30pm ET β€’ February 13-March 13
Aubades & Ballads & Odes, Oh My! with Gregory Crosby
In this five-week, generative in-person workshop, we'll explore how three
longstanding poetic forms-
-the aubade, the ballad, and the ode--have, over
time, evolved from received forms into invented forms.
