Here’s a big #wip self-portrait, still undergoing construction. The challenge for me when painting is knowing when to stop and deciding how much of the underpainting color I want to keep in the final piece. I find self-portraits very accessible and a good reminder that I do in fact exist

I’ve personally always loved seeing a variety of mediums used by one artist and I feel like their perspective and style comes through no matter what.

Yeah that’s true :/ It seems like people want to see a very linear approach in your work with little deviation. Right down to the medium! Even if your investigation or subject matter is the same throughout, that seems less important in applications… maybe it’s just about finding the right people 🤞

I feel this. To me, being an artist feels more like a way of life rather than having certain skills. It’s easy to feel like you need to label yourself as one type of artist and stick to it. I’ve always wrestled with being interdisciplinary but it feels the most freeing at the end of the day.
