Our Long National Nightmare by Tom Tomorrow Relive the trauma of the last five years through the cartoons of Herblock Award winner and Pulitzer nominee Tom Tomorrow.

My intention was to keep this thing simple, since I'm doing it on my own (with the help of @glennf.com). But if we hit $100K, that's gonna need some bonus stickers as a thank you! www.kickstarter.com/projects/tom...

In Discworld, cities thrive because they welcome dwarfs, trolls, vampires, and humans alike. Ankh-Morpork works because everyone belongs. Funny how fiction can seem more humane than policy sometimes.

These are giving @scarfolk.bsky.social vibes, which I suppose means Scarfolk did a really good job of internalizing 20th Century poster design

I keep thinking about how Microsoft, who famously introduced AI into Excel, was strongarmed by its legal department to make a statement that you should not use the AI, introduced into Excel, for calculations

Can I have your recommendations please; fantasy books for a 12 year old girl. Specifically it has to have female protagonist/plenty of female characters, she hates things with no girls. It can have battles and darkness but ideally with girls doing the fighting. Help me out, Go!

Unlikely to appeal to the five guys crowd, I feel.

Which may be a blessing for those of us who do live St John.

There’s the “Three-Finger Drag” if you turn on “Use trackpad for dragging” in the trackpad but if accessibility settings.

Tawny owl

Tawny owl

Six weeks ago, I picked up a year-old tawny owl with a broken leg off the main road near our home and dropped him off at our nearest vet.

After a few days, I received one of the most bizarre phone calls I’ve ever had, asking “So when are you coming to pick up your owl?” 🧵

Pride in Place Strategy The Pride in Place Strategy will help build stronger communities, create thriving places and empower local people.

The govt published its strategy to revitalise local communities last week

There is a heavy focus on directing funding to high streets and community spaces, which is part of the reason for declining "pride in place"

But it seems misguided for a few reasons

It’s easy to say that this is the last desperate hurrah of a dying party, but can we be clear: Trump’s ICE agents are literally kidnapping people, detaining them without due process in concentration camps (yes, this is the right term) and 1000s have disappeared. These are fascist practices.

Reading this and thinking about the time I spent with my sister in law on the day her mom/my mother in law passed last September - who has been adopted in the 60s and only found her birth mom (my mother in law) in the 2010s.

Budget cuts come for us all. My contract with Amtrak is not being renewed and it's up tomorrow.

I'll have more time to work on the Map Center but until it's fully off the ground, I'm a GIS analyst with 12 years of experience in ESRI, open source, education and cartography.

#OtD 2 Oct 1766 the Nottingham Great Cheese Riot began. Angry at the excessive price of cheese, a mob formed who seized it and began wheeling or carrying the cheeses away, bowling over the mayor with a cheese. The army put down rioting 2 days later stories.workingclasshistory.com/article/9225...

Day 243 of absolutely not regretting leaving the Labour Party. As a union rep I’ve helped people fight and win up to the steps of the tribunal. Making them pay is helping bullies silence their victims. How very New Labour.
