I haven't dug deep into that play, but I don't think Golden ran the wrong route. He was running a backside dig and Love just didn't see the defender when he came off the concept & worked back to the dig. Sounds like there may have been some issues on that play, but I don't think it was Golden.

They have a limited package of those plays, most likely. Maybe they build that out a bit, but I'm sure they had a few plays they thought might work but couldn't build a big section of the gameplan out of it.

They only showed that specific tag once earlier in the game, but it was an entirely different look so it wasn't that. I think it was just based on the Bears front with the alignment of the safety. The flat route wouldn't have been open, but if they brought everyone up front, the middle is open.

Man if they have similar success against the Broncos I'll be THRILLED.

He was huge for them in this game for this. Once Golden gets fully healthy/integrated/whatever, they're going to cause a lot of problems.

It's the first time they've had that Stalk/Release tag in their RPO game in 2025, but they had it twice in 2024. Once was a TD to Watson, the other incomplete to Wicks (with Willis in the game at the tail-end of a blow-out win over the Saints).

The second one was a beautiful twist on a core passing tag in the RPO game. Usually the front 2 receivers block for the flat. This time Love adjusts the routes and they Stalk/Release for a vertical RPO & Watson races to the front pylon like 2014 Jordy Nelson.

I'm pretty sure he no-looked this sucker. (This is the exact corner of the end zone we were sitting, by the way.)

The Bears blitzed Jordan Love on 11 of his dropbacks (42.3 %). On those dropbacks, Love was 8/11 for 126 yards & 2 TDs. That was good for an absurd +1.01 EPA per Dropback and a QB Rating of 150.0, the best of any blitzed QB in Week 14.

I like that they keep showing AJ Brown on the sideline just in case he decides that this is the day he chokes out Jalen Hurts on national TV.
