8 years ago I went to Chicago for the first time (for the @scmstudies.bsky.social conference). In a week's time I'll be back again. Likely to be my last appearance because my professional role has changed, so it's going to be both wonderful and a little sad. Picture of the marvellous Picasso 💕

The 24-hour blood pressure monitor proved that my blood pressure is fine... the little minx just decided to play up when I was there with a medical expert. The tease!

I wholeheartedly recommend the Holly Johnson Story at The Museum of Liverpool 🌈 It seems like only a corner of the Museum but, if you listen to the recordings of interviews and testimonials, there's a lot going on ✊️

Waiting 5 hours for a recovery van on the M6 has been made bearable with some reading. Thank goodness for the good old British service station book deal. 🌈

Each weekday morning, I get to the university early and head to the library. I'll write or research for around 45 minutes, then cross campus to do the day job. Despite the hubbub of the ground floor of the library, I've found I'm able to zone much of it out while I work.

It's been a most excellent birthday weekend and we get to do more of the same for @the-kevster.bsky.social Apparently, my twin and I also share our birthday with Maria Von Trapp. So sing Edelweiss y'all, because it's a crazy world out there and we need to keep remembering the good stuff.
