As the quote goes:

Keeping honeybees to "save the bees" is like keeping chickens to "save the birds".

I did! But then lost nearly all of the detail because I used the wrong primer and added too much paint to cover it 😒

First newts of the year - one smooth, one palmate (a rarity in Cambridgeshire)

Adding milliput to the 3d printed model

Painted my first ever D&D mini - my gnome ranger Merris and her snow leopard companion Jasper.

Had a lot of fun using milliput to sculpt the generic panther shape into a snow leopard before figuring out the idiosyncracies of speedpaint.

Here's my mum talking about how she made one of her pieces, including some rather cool techniques like burning and dissolving fabric:

On hold

I'm sorry I can't be there for you right now
I am under unexpected demand
I am working hard to reduce wait times
Your friendship is very important to me

I do not have the capacity to be there
All of my hours are busy with other people
I'm investing in new things I want to do
Your friendship is very important to me

Please be patient while I put you on hold
I have zero tolerance for hearing you're hurt
This line is no longer open
Your friendship is very important to me

If you're a victim of repeated flooding, you need to start looking at land use upstream.

One of these sponges up vast amounts of water, releasing it slowly, the other does not. One reduces flooding, the other *increases* it.

Without addressing this core driver, it'll just keep on getting worse.

Very proud that my mum's work is being exhibited at the Forge Mill Needle Museum in Redditch. Every scene has a tiny animal hidden somewhere, especially for me!

If you guessed "at home calmly sat at my sewing machine having a peaceful time working on my cuddly toy craft project" then well done you.

Because apparently my body can't differentiate between sitting still with my feet on the floor and jogging πŸ™ƒ

I've been in some sort of pain for a third of the days this year.

I've presented through migraines, acted through dizziness and written through fatigue.

This has been a year of grieving who I would be without chronic illness.

As I spend the last day of the year with yet another debilitating migraine, it's safe to say that (with the shining exception of being in Twelfth Night) 2025 has been utter turdshite.

My word for 2026 is simply: endure

After meeting my 6mo niece for the first time, I'm delighted we have so much in common:

- Need a 2h nap after 2h socialising
- Love of bright jumpers
- Can't regulate our body temperature
- Drink a lot of milk
- Fascinated by sparkly things
- Standing is challenging
- Must touch fluffy animals

My delusion is being angry that there's going to be a Tango to Past The Point of No Return from Phantom on Strictly this week...

...because it was what I was going to do *when* I am on Strictly.

Yes, I have a "when I'm on Strictly" playlist.

Over a pint in Oxford, we may have stumbled upon the holy grail of agriculture | George Monbiot I knew that a revolution in our understanding of soil could change the world. Then came a eureka moment – and the birth of the Earth Rover Program, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

1. Some good news at last. This week’s column is about the amazing thing a couple of us stumbled into three years ago, which we’ve now developed into a global research programme. It doesn’t change everything, of course, but it could help change quite a lot. + 🧡 www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
