Huge thank you for making this event extraordinary π
A HUGE shoutout to our incredible attendees for making the event a blast from the get-go!
Special thanks to @dylanbeatt.ie for his music, @andersnoras.com for the welcome feature and our keynoters - @mseckington.bsky.social @trishagee.bsky.social and Sonia Malik - for their inspirational talks!
And finally, The Story Toolbox, where Iβll share practical tips to improve your storytelling and presentations.
Next edition is out tomorrow!

Shortcut Keys: your regular dose of productivity hacks. Every two weeks, Iβll share a tip, trick or recommendation to make your (work) life easier and more efficient.
The first one is about using text replacement:

When I became a manager, I had no idea where to start.
Thatβs why I started The Managerβs Playbook, a new series of short, practical posts to help you build confidence and skills, one step at a time.
The first playbook is about: What skills do you focus on?
www.seckington.com/the-managers...
Monday Musings: a random collection of thoughts, musings and ideas, basically where I can post whatever comes to mind.
The first one is about getting asked βHow many programming languages do you knowβ at a recent event:
www.seckington.com/monday-musin...
Iβve been trying to get back into the mindset of writing long form, so Iβve started a few more recurring series to help me structure my thoughts and thinking more:
- Monday Musings
- The Managerβs Playbook
- Shortcut Keys
- The Story Toolbox
See the thread below for more details and first posts!
Had a great time keynoting last week at #jsday 2025 in Bologna! It was my first time at this conference, and it was lovely.
My keynote was about developing resilience. We can all build our own emotional agility to be more aware of our emotions and create space between our feelings & our responses.
Thank you to everyone whoβs part of the group! Youβre all brilliant and amazing.
What to expect of the upcoming year? More dinners. More virtual events. More connecting.
Our next dinner will be on April 22nd at Dishoom! If you want to join the group and/or the dinner, dm me and let me know!
But thereβs an entire community out there who just need to meet each other and connect.
And that was the start of TLDR.
I started organising the them a year ago, and itβs been so amazing to see how the group has grown since then!
It all started with the idea of bringing awesome women I knew together during a dinner. These were all friends of mine who I thought should meet each other. I realised I was having similar conversations with each of them: itβs lonely and sometimes hard being the only woman in your role or your team.

Happy 1 year anniversary, Tech Ladies Dinner Roundtable!*
Some stats:
18 dinners since launching
133 members in our LinkedIn group
73 members in our WhatsApp group
18 attendees at our largest dinner
Tons of conversations
* The actual anniversary was on Wednesday (April 2nd) but I forgot!
This isnβt just about theory.
This is giving you bite-size steps to take every time and help you improve, step by step.
So check out the first issue now:

And if you like it? Let me know!
Improve: Upgrade your story skills
A resource to help you with your storytelling skills. Cause there are tons of exercises and practical advice out there that you can use and apply. Sometimes it will be books or videos, other times Iβll share a practical exercise.
Learn: Stories to inspire you
A great example of storytelling in action (talks, articles or other real life examples). Cause the more times you see great stories, the more you learn to recognise what you like and could do yourself. You need to learn what great looks like first.
Each edition will have three sections:
Reflect: Find your stories
A prompt to help you brainstorm and find the stories that are in you. To help you develop your βthat would make good talk/blog postβ muscle. These are the questions I ask myself when trying to come up with new talk ideas.
Want to tell better stories? You need the right tools.
Iβm so excited to share that Iβve started: The Story Toolbox π§°
Itβs a new newsletter series to help you find, shape and share your stories, whether for speaking, writing, or everyday conversations.

It's been a while since I wrote one of these Monthly Roundups, but it's been nice to take a step back and reflect on the past few months.
What have your highlights for the past few months been? I'd love to know what stories you've explored and loved π«Ά

Iβm giving a keynote at #jsday in Bologna next week! Iβll be doing my Developing Resilience talk, all about emotional agility.
Want to see my talk? Both in-person and online tickets are still available!
Also: please send me recommendations for things to do (restaurants, sights, etc) in Bologna!

It's time for another Monthly Roundup post!
www.seckington.com/monthly-roun...
I ended up missing the September and October ones, mostly cause of how hectic and challenging the past few months have been. But I'm happy that I got to catchup and write this.
Yay, this is so great to hear! π
Iβm glad you found the workshop useful. Canβt wait to see what you come up with!
This is why I love doing my workshops! Itβs great to see attendees take what Iβve taught and put it into practice! Canβt wait to see what talk proposals they all come up with now.

That was supposed to say βso much funβ. I blame my Saturday morning brain.
Anyway: if we know each other well, and you want to join the karaoke fun, DM me π₯°
I love being able to organise regular karaoke evenings now with friends! Yesterdayβs one was again so much.
I also can notice how much better my voice is getting, just by regularly singing for a few hours and not being afraid to just try different and unexpected songs.
