We need targeted action from both our govts to tackle the public debt spiral that prevents many being able to afford the essentials.

Last winter, @trussellscot.bsky.social data shows:
👉 An emergency food parcel was provided to someone every 2 minutes 12 seconds.
👉 Over 19,000 food parcels for children were provided, that's just under 1 in every 3 parcels.

It’s not right that people are having to turn to food banks to survive.

Lifting the two-child limit will bring huge relief to families next April.

But first, people and food banks in Scotland have to get through a tough winter. 💚

Christmas should be a time of joy and celebration but we fear thousands of families in Scotland will be forced to make impossible decisions like whether to eat or heat their homes.

Last winter, 5,400 families used a food bank in the Trussell community for the very first time.

Last winter alone, our community of food banks in Scotland provided over 59,000 emergency food parcels. 

Alarmingly, 19,000 of these went to children. This is unacceptable.

A food parcel was provided to someone EVERY 2 minutes and 12 seconds.

🚨 JUST IN: thousands of people will need to turn to a food bank in Scotland for the very first time this winter. 

The rising costs of essentials, like food, rent and bills, and a lack of support from our social security system, is pushing people to the brink.

Thanks to everyone who donated to the food collections over Thursday to Saturday. Over half a tonne of food was donated to Dunfermline Foodbank which provides a much needed boost to our stocks coming up to Christmas. @trussellscot.bsky.social Thanks also to all the volunteers who made it possible.
