The nerve! Gov. DeWine wrecked higher ed and blames the tour guides DeWine’s $5,000 merit scholarship can’t mask the damage of SB 1: program cuts, shuttered DEI, politicized classrooms — and a hostile message to the very students and scholars Ohio needs to keep.

Republicans and Gov DeWine have made OH parents much less likely to send their children to college in-state. And why would someone want to attend an OH university from another part of the US when a legislative majority view educators as the enemy?

In contrast, UC faculty and staff have never been considered worthy of contributing to conversations about how UC should respond and certainly haven't been given clear or consistent information about what decisions are being made and why--the "university partners" have mostly been kept in the dark.

UC's president argues that he has no choice but to submit such abject capitulation. If that were the case, though, you'd expect leaders of other universities to respond similarly. Let's take a look at a few and see if we can find any differences...

This craven announcement by the University of Cincinnati president in response to Ohio's proposed SB1 and the Department of Education's recent "Dear Colleague" letter has widely circulated through social media, justifiably as the object of much derision.

Yeah, I of course think we'd have a much better society if everyone was empathetic towards each other. Comedy won't work without some friction, though, and so good comedians really do have to thread a needle as Seinfeld suggests. And even then everyone won't agree if the eye has been threaded.

Ok, yes, to be fair I have not heard the entire interview. That said, comedians have always complained about people being offended--it's in the nature of the work. If he's claiming we're now in a particularly restrictive era I would disagree with him there...

Why is everyone so quick to criticize? He's making the point that times change and good comedians change with them. He told jokes in the vernacular of humor of the time. Doesn't make him a horrible guy. Ever wonder what language you use now that in the future someone will use to castigate you?
