A large industrial power plant with multiple cooling towers emitting steam into the cloudy sky. The scene includes electrical pylons and a field of green grass in the foreground. The weather appears overcast.

A new study co-authored by researchers from @tyndallcentre.bsky.social and Norwich Business School has found that countries with stricter and better-targeted climate policies cut carbon emissions faster.

Worst possible time to be luring Willow Tits predictably into the open hundreds of times a day, at end of winter. If a Sparrowhawk gets lucky just once, taking a Willow Tit on those hundreds of daily rolls of the dice, then that territory is finished for the whole year - no replacement, no breeding.

What you have to understand is that Carbon Capture and Storage is driven not by environmental concerns but by fossil fuel industry demands. It provides both a new revenue stream (at our expense) and the mother of all greenwashing schemes. Whether it works or not (it doesn't) is entirely irrelevant.

The students claiming uni Covid compensation 'for the principle' Dozens of universities have received legal letters over what students say they missed out on during Covid.

This is causing despair in academe. (1) We were forced to close during Covid. We had no choice! (2) We're not service providers like a restaurant, we are institutions of state. (3) We did everything we could. (4) This will cripple current students' education.

Moth perched on a streetlamp. Our work suggests that light suppresses activity in moths, so once attracted to a light they are prevented from escape.

Eye-opening findings on how light suppresses moth activity. Light attracts moths, but what if we've been missing a much more pervasive effect where even sky-glow light levels make them freeze?

R6PGPY GPS tagged red knot on release from the Wadden Sea

East coast UK birders keep an eye out for colour ringed knots especially anyone near Thorpeness where R6PGPY is hanging out. Doesn't look like particularly perfect knot habitat on satellites but if anyone could let us know the conditions in the area that would be interesting! #ornithology #ukbirding
