hell, women could not get a credit card in their own name without a male cosigner until 1974 in the us i mean jesus christ was feminism too effective that we forgot how recently women had almost no rights in society

also i think it's real naïve to think that the pool of inkers being mostly women wasn't a consideration at the time when they had to cut costs. like obviously they weren't doing it out of some kind of malice but the idea of women having careers and livelihood wasn't taken seriously til the 80s
