Literally millions of anti-trans bigots vote for Democrats every national election. Doesn't mean you have to cater to them (there are also Trump voters who might be winnable on LGBT stuff!) but takes like this don't understand the electorate

I don't think this is right. There will be liberal-side wins in the courts, just on things that states wouldn't have even dared to try before 2018. Someone has to be litigating those cases

On the bad side, I think its characterization of the risk from the posters is exaggerated, it doesn't take the moral and religious motives of the students seriously enough, and it really needed to have an apology to the students that is absent

It's not a question of tolerance (Hillel doesn't have to tolerate all viewpoints) but I do think Hillel is too narrow in its attitude toward disagreement about Israel and this statement actually pushes back a little against voices that want it to be even narrower

I thought it was a helpful explanation of the Hillel director's thinking and better than the prior statements (which ignored that it was a Jewish group referencing the Yom Kippur liturgy). I thought it was helpful to see a qualified acceptance of pluralism on this issue

Deducting business expenses makes sense when you are taxed on business income. But homeowners are not taxed on imputed rent

- Hezbollah is weaker which means that (assuming direct confrontation with Iran peters out) the US worries less about deterring it
- the next election is a while away which means Harris worries less about backlash from aid restrictions

These are not people "ICE released." They are people not currently in detention. So e.g. a green card holder who is convicted of murder and serving time would be on this list despite never having been in ICE custody and actually being in (non-immigrant) detention
