I believe that AI could be more creative than Harari though

It just doesn't focus a ton on Canaan/promised land (which surprised me I guess?!) - it's there, but not the major theme

Rabbi, my copy of the book just arrived and it's great. Having said that, I'm not sure it does exactly what you're looking for. The chapter on Naboth's vineyard is probably the closest (and imho is so so good) but there are a few pages (with relevant footnotes) in the appendix

Happy to!

Right - and Christians are good at ignoring those parts of history anyway! (I say, as a Christian)

Yes, exactly right. That's what I would anticipate (re "Jesus-y"), that Jesus is a big part of that off-ramp!

I just ordered (but haven't read, so can't say yet!) Reading the Bible on Turtle Island. It's published by IVP so will certainly be Jesus-y at times. But it might have something helpful? Would love to hear what resources you find for this.

This really is such an exciting project!!

A senior scholar in my field did this when I published an article as a junior scholar (one that I was nervous about!). I saved the email and look back at it regularly. It meant so much!

Friends, I hope you’ll share this widely. The @jcblibrary.bsky.social is hiring 2 3-yr research associates for collaborative work on religions and freedoms in the early Americas. Info is here and I’m happy to take questions offline: brown.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/staff-...

Love this analysis from Jen Kaalund.

"Memory binds us together and helps us become who we aspire to be. But it only does this when we remember the real and complicated stories."

Can’t decide what to buy on Prime Day?

Try: absolutely nothing, and then go support indie bookstores instead πŸ“š

I Am An AI Hater I am an AI hater. This is considered rude, but I do not care, because I am a hater.

I considered writing a long carefully constructed argument laying out the harms and limitations of AI, but instead I wrote about being a hater. Only humans can be haters.
