02.02.2026 23:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It just doesn't focus a ton on Canaan/promised land (which surprised me I guess?!) - it's there, but not the major theme
02.02.2026 21:41 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Rabbi, my copy of the book just arrived and it's great. Having said that, I'm not sure it does exactly what you're looking for. The chapter on Naboth's vineyard is probably the closest (and imho is so so good) but there are a few pages (with relevant footnotes) in the appendix
02.02.2026 21:40 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Happy to!
29.01.2026 21:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Right - and Christians are good at ignoring those parts of history anyway! (I say, as a Christian)
29.01.2026 17:59 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yes, exactly right. That's what I would anticipate (re "Jesus-y"), that Jesus is a big part of that off-ramp!
29.01.2026 17:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I just ordered (but haven't read, so can't say yet!) Reading the Bible on Turtle Island. It's published by IVP so will certainly be Jesus-y at times. But it might have something helpful? Would love to hear what resources you find for this.
29.01.2026 16:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This really is such an exciting project!!
16.01.2026 16:04 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0A senior scholar in my field did this when I published an article as a junior scholar (one that I was nervous about!). I saved the email and look back at it regularly. It meant so much!
15.01.2026 21:15 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Friends, I hope youβll share this widely. The @jcblibrary.bsky.social is hiring 2 3-yr research associates for collaborative work on religions and freedoms in the early Americas. Love this analysis from Jen Kaalund.
"Memory binds us together and helps us become who we aspire to be. But it only does this when we remember the real and complicated stories."
Looking forward to seeing folks at #aarsbl25 #sblaar25!

Canβt decide what to buy on Prime Day?
Try: absolutely nothing, and then go support indie bookstores instead π
You absolutely did too. <3
