15 years ago today, former Representative Gabby Giffords was wounded in a horrific act of political violence when a gunman opened fire at a public event in Tucson, Arizona.

Fifteen years ago today, a gunman opened fire while my wife Gabby Giffords met with constituents outside a Tucson grocery store. Six people were killed. Thirteen others were injured – including Gabby. That day changed everything for my family and our community.
