That is great to hear! I have family in rural PA, semi-rural TN, and Philadelphia. I’d say the folks in the first two categories are not super aware, but my SIL in Philly is. She’s also the most actively political (and left-leaning) one.

My parents are *also* there right now - selling their little winter home so they can never go back 😅 I really hope we can repair with our neighbours once the Scourge is gone, but it’s not going to be that simple.

There isn’t really a solid part three to this thought, but on many occasions over the past ~5 years I’ve had to ask people - sometimes more than once - to stop explaining bitcoin to me. I have limited memory resources. It sounds completely untethered to reality.

And now I feel totally vindicated 🥳

Examples: driving a manual transmission car (this one will get me in the most trouble, I KNOW lots of people prefer/enjoy it for valid reasons, stay with me), viticulture, reading some of the more boring classics, and cryptocurrency.

Something I think about a lot for some reason: there are a handful of topics/skills that many (NOT ALL) people learn because the social pain of admitting ignorance is higher than the personal pain of learning. Call it performative understanding or whatever.
