@tomking.bsky.social Quick question from a comic retailer: has Helen of Wyndhorn #5 been delayed? It seems to have disappeared from the Diamond and PRH sites.

Δ°f you have any interest in discussing it with a Roman historian, I'm happy to hook you up.

I love classic film but there's a lot I've never seen before. Watching The Seventh Seal for the first time tonight and I'm blown away by the cinematography. Also, the line "We carve an idol out of our fear and call it God."

Turned on PlutoTV because I didn't feel like making decisions, and landed on the Original Star Trek channel. The episode: Mirror Mirror. @georgetakei.bsky.social Mirror Universe Sulu is pretty amazing. So much love to you.

My kid just asked me, "What would happen if I ate your eyeball?" and all I could say was, "I'd have to tell @neilhimself.neilgaiman.com that I've found the Corinthian."

I've always thought of it as the equivalent of the Uayeb in the Mayan calendar.

The Prison Books Project The Prison Books Projectis an organization that provides books to incarcerated persons throughout New York State, by request.

I can't imagine a place where imagination is MORE important than in prisons. (But this is why we're part of the Beacon Prison Books Project! prisonbooksproject.org)

Thanks. Δ°t definitely helps from a retailer (and parent) perspective. Good to know it's useful from a creator's perspective as well.

@neilhimself.neilgaiman.com random question (and apologies if you've answered this elsewhere!): what are your thoughts on the ways comic publishers age grade comics? For example, is the 'mature readers' tag on the Norse Mythology comic accurate?

My kid (age 6), talking about "Feliz Navidad": "I like this song! But I only hear it at Christmas time."

My wife: "That's because it's a Christmas song."

Kid: brain explodes

My partner and I have been studying Turkish for a while. It's not an easy language for which to find instruction, so we rely on Duolingo. Some of the sentences are truly funny. Example: İki kedi hakkında rüşvet iddiaları var.

Just discovered that the Grandmaster under whom I briefly studied taekwondo was the guy who trained the guy who is now considered the "Father of Taekwondo" in India. I knew that Grandmaster Lee was an amazing teacher. I had no idea that he had such an impact on the art.

My kid loves to draw. It's so much fun to see what he comes up with, and to watch his skill develop. Tonight he pointed out the Caldecott medal on the cover of the book we were reading and asked if maybe he could win one. I hope someday he does! More importantly, I hope that he just keeps drawing.

We've had good luck with Planet Oat. The extra creamy variety has a reasonable consistency. Better than almond milk, and entire universes better than rice milk.

Okay, I'll admit it: I've been using Google Podcasts. Given that they're shutting it down at the end of the year, I'm on the hunt for a new player. Recommendations?

A quote: "In a time and in a country where everyone goes out of his way to announce opinions or hand down judgments, Mr. Palomar has made a habit of biting his tongue three times before assuring anything. After the third bite, if he is still convinced of what he was going to say, he says it. If not, he keeps his mouth shut.” From Mr. Palomar, by Italo Calvino.

I love Calvino. He's not all-weather fare for me, but there are some passages that stick, no matter how long ago I read them. This is one of them. (And it tracks for me, with social media.)

All right. I'm done teaching until January, so I have a little more time during the day. Still not up to full capacity, but really want to try in earnest to get back to writing the book I've been chipping away at. Suggestions on how to manage time when you're done with life around 4 pm every day?

My wife got her PhD in the CAMS program there, before they dismantled it. When the Sandusky scandal broke, that was one thing she pointed out about JoePa. People are complicated. And the humanities are essential!
