A chill ran down my spine. I turned away quickly, heading back toward my room, only to freeze as I passed through someone’s shadow. Someone standing behind me.

And that’s the last thing I remember.

A Juicy Juice poster.

The exact same brand my roommate always brought home. The same drink she handed me every morning.

The room was tiny, barely 2x2 meters. A single desk sat in the middle, buried under messy stacks of paper. I couldn’t understand any of it, the writing looked bizarre, almost like symbols instead of words. But what made my stomach twist was a poster taped crookedly to the wall beside the desk.

On my way back, I noticed one door slightly open. I shouldn’t have looked inside, but I did. 🙅

Curious, and uneasy. I stepped out into the hallway. There were about 20 rooms on this floor, but the corridor stretched out empty, like everyone had vanished at the same time. No voices. No movement. Nothing.

But today felt strange. Too quiet.

For an apartment building right in the middle of a noisy city, the silence pressed against my ears. No footsteps. No doors shutting. Not even the distant hum of conversations or televisions through the walls. Just stillness.

My other roommate? I’d only seen him once, on the day I moved in. According to her, he always left before sunrise and returned long after midnight. Maybe that was why I barely remembered his face.

I woke up in my apartment with a dull throb in my head. The morning light leaked through the blinds as my roommate handed me a bottle of orange juice, just like she always did. She was the one who handled groceries, chores, everything.
