Some workers already let AI do the thinking for them, Microsoft researchers find Dammit, that was our job here at The Reg. Now if you get a task you don't understand, you may assume AI has the answers Some knowledge workers risk becoming over-reliant on generative AI and their problem-solving skills may decline as a result,…

Said it before and I'll say it again; The people using generative AI to do their jobs are the very people who shouldn't be doing those jobs in the first place.

Nice to see if Grok-2 can do this :-)

Good, nice to see the little Xitler feel it where it hurts him.

Yes the Dunning-Kruger effect is strong in the Musk world.

n order to do this, the LLM had to be given control of its operating system or 'agent scaffolding'. Allowing an LLM to actually execute code IRL is the stupidest thing I have heard in ages!

AI crosses β€˜red line’ after learning to replicate itself β€˜Successful self-replication is the essential step for AI to outsmart the human beings,’ researchers warn

Ok, so a Large Language Model #llm #AI has successfully copied itself and its runtime environment ( #self-replication ) But in order to do this it had to be given 'agent scaffolding'; essentially control of the operating system! *This* is the single thing to *not* do! 'Agentic AI' can do one!

Chris Philp is so dense that light bends around him. It even makes his surname look like a misspelling!

Blaming disabled and brown people for the crash. He’s a piece of shit.

I am surpised that Musk hasn't bought them already...

And this would be different how? :-)

OpenAI are lying. Probably just to get a mention in the media. This is what OpenAI do. They are *very* similar to Trump and Musk in that respect.

Except that they *have* released the models, in full, on GitHub and Huggingface.

The JSO protests were peaceful, but disruptive, just like strike action.

Erm, I take it you haven't been flooded or had your house burned or blown down recently? I imagine *that* is quite disruptive...

Yes but so do striking teachers, doctors and train drivers? Should they go to prison too?

29.01.2025 15:56 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

To paraphrase Mandy Rice Davies: "They would say that, wouldn't they!"

29.01.2025 10:42 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Actually the model makers used llama3.2, Qwen2.5 and other open source models to distill-train R1 (DeepSeek). They freely admit this on their Github and Huggingface pages.

29.01.2025 10:40 β€” πŸ‘ 18    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Totally agree with this. The fact is that they are *right* about climate change, in the same way that the Suffragettes were *right* about vote for women. The prison sentences are like USA sentences, stupidly over the top.

The reasoning given is that it will reduce stacking and cut emissions. Clearly they have never heard of Parkinson's Law - i.e. "The more runways you build, the more air traffic will fill them".

Tomorrow is the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. Musk should look up what happened to Alfred Rosenberg.
