With the forecast rain today petering to nothing, 2025 will see the driest March at Sandown Park and Epsom since my records began in 1997 - just 3mm at both. Previous low was in 1997 at 14mm.

I had #2 Gatwick Merlyn, but was beaten to the button. Can’t believe I didn’t see Epsom in #1. Keep them coming.

The Eclipse was first run in 1886, 9 years after the course opened. I never realised so much changed track-wise in those formative years.

It simply does not get any better this. The best steeple chase in all my time at Sandown Park.
