Looking at the creatures around me, I realise there is no such thing as a higher evolved species. I'm no better than my cat. We're all built best for something, he is strong where I am not.

Perhaps it's the same sentiment trainers share... but their goals are small and trivial compared to ours, no?

After all, strength is found in camaraderie. We can have relationships with them, even if they are merely working relationships. You've seen Ariana and her Pokémon, right? She obviously cares about them, and they're terrifying together.

There's a logical benefit to civility, is what I'm saying. +

I'm fairly low empathy. If something doesn't capture my heart, I can easily put it out of mind. That being said, watch out if I get attached to something. The boss, for example. Or my Matrix.

That being said, I think we can operate without extensive cruelty toward Pokémon. It'd likely be better. +
