29.07.2025 20:17 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Really never found anyone who was happy with the return on investment for their cybersecurity bachelorβs, though Iβm sure there are some out there.
29.05.2025 16:02 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Now 10 years later I spend my time mentoring the youth by steering them away from βcybersecurityβ degrees that are usually less technical and more program management. Do that as a minor, or join a CTF club... Or just go work at a help desk.
29.05.2025 16:01 β π 0 π 1 π¬ 1 π 010 years ago today, I graduated with my B.S in computer science. π³

With unchaste purpose
I have bought nothing from Amazon for the past month. But there are challenges. Like, βwhere can I get a food safe tentacle moldβ and βwhy is this niche e-book not available anywhere but Kindleβ π
So, you know, very surmountable first world problems over here.
Has anyone used Duolingo and felt it helped them get close to conversational? Or do you have another recommendation that is relatively cheap?
21.03.2025 00:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Even if unemployed, having less debt probably makes that easier! Congratulations!!
13.03.2025 14:50 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This Amazon boycott has been shockingly easy for me so far. At the end of this I may just get a Costco membership lol
12.03.2025 19:35 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0My quest to give myself some semblance of control over my environment continues. Mulch came from a local farm here in town.
11.03.2025 18:18 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Did you know that you can probably get same day delivery for mulch even if you and your husband are extremely unprepared to do anything with it?? You can!! Chaotic gardening is necessary when you suddenly have a whole week of good weather. At least thatβs what Iβm telling him. π
11.03.2025 18:13 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Today Iβm talking to a lot of people about cyber security, as is my job, but I really want to talk to everyone about mulch and gardening instead.
11.03.2025 14:28 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0In other news, someone stopped Brandon in a grocery store today and told him he is a βdead ringer for the Ukrainian president.β We agreed this was a big compliment.
07.03.2025 18:30 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Hopefully we can take what we learn with us. Instead of Whole Foods, sign up for a CSA this summer, and visit a farmers market! Local butchers, fish stands, whatever you can find. Maybe weβll have new favorites.
07.03.2025 18:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Amazon likely wonβt care about this at all. But the local businesses we support instead will! Iβm treating it as a mindfulness practice: what could I easily be buying elsewhere? How much do I rely on (unnecessary) convenience like same-day delivery? What local businesses sell things I need?

07.03.2025 18:11 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Legal counsel representing federal employees is now being targeted by the Trump administration. Law firms are receiving a clear message that retaliation is possible for those advocating on behalf of individuals or groups opposing the administrationβs agenda.

05.03.2025 18:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I am just not meant to be in 4 straight hours of meetings.

28.02.2025 14:44 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Nothing has brought me joy recently quite like the little onion sprouts that started popping up from my seed trays.
25.02.2025 19:18 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0When I was young, my dad told me:
The cavalry isnβt coming. Itβs time to find your own horse.
I think about that a lot.
I had some meat and bread both on their way out, but we also had some homemade sauerkraut that my husband got after putting in a day of labor for some friends, and some great mustard we got as part of a Christmas gift.
Truly, we are living our Irish ancestorsβ greatest dreams. π
I have never been good at caring for indoor plants, and they barely spoke English, so there were no instructions. Thankfully, itβs a very old, well established plant, so it was very willing to come back with a little love. Flower for reference.
16.02.2025 23:01 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That plant was a gift from our elderly neighbors who moved away. Brandon helped them in a time of need, and they came by to give us the ultra rare flower it produces once a year. It blooms overnight and dies by morning. We were so grateful that they gave us the whole plant when they left.
16.02.2025 22:57 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I also seem to have succeeded at bringing our Queen of the Night cactus back from dying. I doubt it will flower this year, but it taught me a lot, so Iβm still calling it a win.
16.02.2025 22:49 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0While we wait for our planned seeds to arrive, weβve gone ahead and potted some old seeds from Brandonβs brother. Iβm not fully expecting them to germinate, but with a heat mat and some lights, they might have a chance!
