Every minute without a strong statement from the Irish government about the arson and attempted murder in Drogheda is another minute of silent acquiescence to the far right - by remaining silent, the govt is making it very clear which side they are on.
Everyone who is here, belongs here.

This Trump-ally billionaire's my neighbour. He's collecting estates: Conholt, Hippenscombe (of Ravilious fame) & Buttermere, & rents the one I live on, filling it with pheasants. A piece in the Telegraph seems to say locals 'mostly like' what he's doing. Not met one yet. @guyshrubsole.bsky.social

UC Berkeley gives Trump administration 160 names in antisemitism probe UC Berkeley gave the Trump administration the names of 160 students, faculty and staff and info about their β€œpotential connection to reports of allegedΒ antisemitism” β€” sparking due-process...

Unreal. "Forwarding these names, a well-known practice from the McCarthy Era, may well subject a number of faculty, staff, or students to widespread surveillanceβ€”a breathtaking breach of trust, ethics, and justice."

- Judith Butler, whose name was among the 160 shared with the Trump administration

This, to be considered by the House of Commons this afternoon, needs to cause as much political trouble for the government as the welfare bill. Ask your MP to stand up for the right to protest.

Spent a lovely calming half hour reading through the accounts of a certain Noisy, PR-Heavy Arts Organisation that appeared out of the blue 4 years ago and hoovered up all the arts funding; thought at the time it seemed like a racket, and, you guys, you'll never guess what!!

it was totally a racket

The "legitimate concerns" narrative told us that opposition to immigration was popularly held, a fixed reality to be deferred to, and that support for immigration was marginal and elitist.

Wrong on multiple levels, and also helped radicalise big chunks of the political class towards the far right.

The reality became clear: Ice detention isn’t just a bureaucratic nightmare. It’s a business. These facilities are privately owned and run for profit. Companies like CoreCivic and GEO Group receive government funding based on the number of people they detain, which is why they lobby for stricter immigration policies. It’s a lucrative business: CoreCivic made over $560m from Ice contracts in a single year. In 2024, GEO Group made more than $763m from Ice contracts. The more detainees, the more money they make. It stands to reason that these companies have no incentive to release people quickly. What I had experienced was finally starting to make sense. This is not just my story. It is the story of thousands and thousands of people still trapped in a system that profits from their suffering. I am writing in the hope that someone out there – someone with the power to change any of this – can help do something.

Like Direct Provision in Ireland, run by Aramark, ICE is a scam to make billionaires richer.

paresthesia (face) 2016

An embroidery of the outline of a face in bone coloured thread on bone coloured linen. The forehead, cheeks, jaws, and temples are covered in filigree lines in dark blues, greens, and yellows. There are French knots spaced out along the lips. Lines of beige strands of thread are strung from the knots across the face in a geometric formation.

For this #InternationalWomensDay I’m sharing one of my symptomatology embroideries, paresthesia (face) (2016). Paresthesias are tingling sensations. Mine are caused by #MECFS, a disease affecting mostly women, and the symptoms are often ignored or not taken seriously because of medical misogyny. 🧢

Art in the Arctic I am raising money to cover travel costs to travel to The Arctic Hideaway, in Norway, where I have been awarded an artist residency in March

I wasn't going to do more posts about my crowdfunder, but as I'm only Β£36 from my target I figured I'd give it another shout out. If you are able to share I'd appreciate it. In exactly a week I will be starting my 22hr journey to an art residency in #Arctic Norway and I'm feeling anxious!
